Borrego Ministers’ Association Participates in Memorial Day Tribute



A Community United in Remembrance

On Memorial Day, the Borrego Ministers Association participated in a heartfelt ceremony at Christmas Circle to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. The event, beginning at 11:00 a.m., was a collaborative effort with the Borrego Springs American Legion Post 853, bringing together our community in a shared moment of respect and remembrance.

Honoring Our Heroes

The ceremony featured significant contributions from members of the Borrego Ministers Association. Father David Madsen from St. Barnabas Episcopal Church and Chaplain Dale Jones, Director of the Borrego Ministers Association, played key roles in the event.

Ceremony Highlights

The event commenced with the posting of the colors by the Color Guard, followed by the National Anthem performed by Judy Taylor. ChrisAnn Wells, ALA President, led the Pledge of Allegiance, and Father David Madsen offered the Chaplains’ Prayer, invoking a sense of peace and reflection among the attendees.

Chaplain Dale Jones, in his dual role as Commander, welcomed the gathered crowd and set the tone for the ceremony with his thoughtful address. Gina Moran and Marjorie Schuessler then conducted the passing of the Ceremonial Flag, symbolizing the enduring legacy of those who have served.

Musical tributes were provided by Judy Taylor, who sang “God Bless America” and “America the Beautiful,” adding a poignant backdrop to the event. The reading of “In Flanders Fields” by Kathy Pratt further emphasized the solemnity of the occasion.

Community and Fellowship

Following the ceremony, community members were invited to Post 853 for a luncheon featuring hamburgers and chips. This gathering allowed attendees to share stories, connect with one another, and honor the memories of fallen heroes in a personal and heartfelt manner.

Supporting Our Veterans

Donations collected during the luncheon will support veteran and local programs, highlighting the ongoing commitment of the American Legion Post 853 and the Borrego Ministers Association to serve those who have served our country. This gesture underscores the community’s dedication to honoring the sacrifices of our veterans and supporting their families.
