Each October, the Borrego Ministers Association (BMA) hosts the annual Blessing of the Animals, a cherished event where pets of all shapes and sizes, along with their human companions, receive a special blessing. Rooted in the tradition of St. Francis of Assisi, this ceremony celebrates the bond between humans and animals while reinforcing our shared commitment to honoring all of God’s creatures.
The BMA, a coalition of local churches and community leaders, is dedicated to fostering unity and supporting the spiritual needs of Borrego Springs. Events like the Blessing of the Animals provide an inclusive and joyful opportunity for the community to come together, celebrating the love and companionship that animals bring into our lives.
Everyone, whether local or visiting, is warmly welcomed to participate in this special tradition.
